BiographyBorn in Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1919, Gene Bavinger lived and made art in Oklahoma his entire life except for a short time in California and New York City and graduate studies in Oklahoma. A year after he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma, he joined the School of Art faculty there in 1947. He taught painting, drawing and design for the next thirty-three years until he retired in 1980.
