BiographyWatercolorist, painting indians in everyday life. At the time of his death, Mootzka was devoting almost all his artistic talents to silverwork.

WALDO MOOTZKA (1910-1940) had no formal art training but observed Fred Kabotie at the Oraibi Day School. He learned watercolor and later was schooled in silversmithing by Frank Patania in Santa Fe. His artwork focuses on mythology and tribal ceremonies. He died at the age of 30 in an automobile accident in Phoenix (Lester 1995: 371).
