BiographyEverett Ellis Hibbard (8 May 1909-6 Nov 1989) was an artist, musician and composer from Tahlequah, OK. He played clarinet and saxophone, and wrote arrangements for the Hudson-DeLange Orchestra touring the country during the late 1930s. The band was dissolved in 1938. He worked as an artist and inker for King Features Syndicate, Better Publications, and National Periodical Publications (later DC Comics) until 1947, when he retired from comics. He worked on such titles as Secret Agent X-9, The Flash, Justice Society of America, All Star Comics, and others. He then worked as a studio and sketch artist. He lived in Tulsa for several years in the late 40s, working for Vandever’s and Seidenbach’s Department stores as an artist and photographer. He was an Artist in residence at Philbrook. One of his music compositions was played by the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra. Ultimately, he moved back to New York he joined the J. Walter Thompson advertising agency in NYC, working with TV and print media until his retirement in 1974. He produced a number of lithographic prints and animal carvings in stone. He was a member of the Society of Animal Artists, the Taurine Bibliophiles of America, and the Community Art Association. He moved to Midland Park, NJ in 1963.
