Known as Chief Terry Saul, a leader of the Choctaw/Chickasaw tribe. He was an illustrator, educator, painter, muralist and commercial artist. He grew up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He attended high school at Bacone College in Bacone, Oklahoma.

He served in the Army during World War II , and in 1948, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Oklahoma, and an M.F.A. the following year.

A member of the Choctaw/Chickasaw tribal nation, his native name was Tabaski (ember of fire or coal). He also went by Chief Terry Saul, or Chief T. Saul. Preferred media: oil on gesso, tempera, casein.
