He was born in Florence in 1440. He was a pupil from May 1453 to October 1456 of Blacks Bicci , then move on to the following Alesso Baldovinetti ; in 1459 he received his first important commission for an altarpiece , now lost, for the Florentine church of Santa Trinita . In 1472 the records of the Compagnia di San Luca remember him busy in Santa Maria "in Champo" . Dated 1473 is the altarpiece of the 'Annunciation and Four Saints ( Avignon , Musée du Petit Palais ), which looks at ways of Domenico Veneziano , Benozzo Gozzoli and Blacks Bicci . Towards the 1475th - 1,476th painted the Calling of St. Philip Benizi in the Cloister of the ratings of the Santissima Annunziata.

1480 is considered to be about the Madonna and Child with Angels, preserved at the Metropolitan Museum of New York , which shows clear references to the painting of Andrea del Verrocchio . In the spring of 1481 Rosselli was invited by Pope Sixtus IV in Rome for the decoration of the Sistine Chapel next to Pietro Perugino , Domenico Ghirlandaio , Sandro Botticelli. It was Rosselli, out of ignorance or laziness, to use soprammissioni 'with the finest ultramarine blues and of other bright colors' and gold highlights. He returned to Florence in 1482 created the table devoted to Corbinelli chapel, dedicated to St. Thomas , in the basilica of the Holy Spirit .
