Robert Chee was also known as Hashke-Yil-E-Cale. A Navajo painter, Chee was active/lived in Arizona. He is known for figure, genre, landscape, mural.

Watercolor artist who practiced the traditional flat style painting of the American Southwest. He was in the military from 1958 to 1961 and painted murals in Army buildings in Mainz Germany in lieu of army duties.

Robert's mother, although uneducated in white man's ways, recognized his talent and encouraged him to enroll in the Inter-Mountain School at Brigham, Utah, where he could receive art instruction along with his academic training. While there, he studied with Allan Houser the famous Apache artist. Chee is noted for two-dimensional strongly decorative work with bright colors. He adhered to all the characteristics of traditional Navajo painting.
